iweb Research

I am currently working to produce my own website using iweb and have been looking at other websites for inspiration. I have come across many creative and engaging ones so far and have found that they don't have to be complex at all in order to be effective or work. I have mainly been looking at how websites put together links to different pages from their home page and what headings they use for each tab. Some contain just one option to click and others break down into 4 or 5 alternate pages leading from just the one link.

Here is a collection of screen grabs I took of sites that i felt worked well..

Ronson vs Illustration

Mark Ronson - 'Just'

I wanted to post this video up because it features the kind of illustration that I am inspired by and have been looking at recently. I also includes graffiti and animation fused with Ronson's unique style and remix. I particularly like the frames from 2.20 onwards where the viewer follows the back of a white truck that has an animated trumpet player on. This is the style of animation that I would like to do in my current animation brief.
Graffiti. Illustration. Animation. Music. What more do you need?

E4 stings

Here's a collection of E4 stings and idents that I find inspirational and rather amusing. I've never really looked into idents and stings before or understood them. However I have always admired E4 for having quirky little ads on in between friends and other such programs. I don't think my 30-50 second animation will be quite to this standard but at least I have a standard I have seen and can look up to to inspire me.

FRANK

FRANK is an independent government funded web site maintained for personal use and viewing. It is designed for people to gain a better understanding of drugs, use and get help for yourself or others. You can also read peoples stories about what they have gone through and how they have learnt to not use. I stumbled across it the other day when browsing for interactive website design. I was very impressed with it and how informative it is. Definitely worth a look at regardless of your reason for doing so.
This is the link to the website:

Favourite advert on TV Jan 09

Over Christmas I've actually had time to watch some TV and whilst doing so this advertisement for the new audi Q5 caught my eye. Love it. It's original, fun, contains the style of illustration I find inspiring and engages the viewers attention and is certainly rememberable. Produced by Bartle Bogle Hegarty London who have done previous advert for Audi vehicles.
Their website is also very much worth a visit:
